The child worker’s position requires them to hold a registration with a Regulatory Authority – e.g. Medial Council of New Zealand, Midwifery Council and hold an Annual Practicing Certificate. .

The primary purpose of the vetting service is to make a significant contribution to public safety and in doing so the protection of vulnerable members of our society.

The regulations/laws also apply to people doing unpaid work with children as part of an educational or vocational training course (eg, trainees or students).
Children’s Worker Safety Checks are valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
New Zealand legislation relating to Children’s Worker Safety Checks require that copies of an individual’s ID be certified as part of your application.
Following the completion of a Safety Check each applicant will be provided with a report regarding the outcome of their check. The results of the Children's Worker Safety Check is either a clearance to work with children for a three year period, or a decline notice.
In accordance with the intent of the Children's Act 2014 You will need to confirm your identity by providing scanned, Certified Copies of your identity documents.
